Relatives of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels have issued a 48-hour ultimatum to her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, to accept the bride price paid during their marriage.

The demand was made in an open letter signed by Favour Awele Obi on behalf of the Ogwashi-Uku community in Delta State, where Regina hails from. The letter accused Senator Nwoko of disregarding local traditions and allegedly using his political influence to intimidate members of Regina’s family.

According to the community, Ogwashi-Uku customs permit a woman to leave her marriage if she so chooses, provided her family returns the bride price to formally dissolve the union. They claimed Regina’s relatives had made several attempts to return the payment, but the senator reportedly refused to accept it.

“If he continues to reject it, the bride price will be placed at the Ikeleke Quarter in Ogwashi-Uku,” the letter stated — a symbolic act in local tradition that signifies the end of a marriage.

The group further condemned the alleged harassment and arrest of Regina’s siblings, describing such actions as “a clear violation of their customs and an insult to the community.”

The open letter, shared online by Regina’s brother, Sweezzy, and actor Stanley Ontop, urged Senator Nwoko to “allow peace to reign” by accepting the bride price and ensuring the release of those allegedly detained.

This comes just days after Regina Daniels accused the senator of ordering the arrest of her brother and sister after she reportedly declined to return to him.

Regina and Ned Nwoko married in 2019 and share two sons. As of the time of this report, Senator Nwoko has not publicly responded to the ultimatum.
