REAL ESTATE STAKEHOLDERS SEEK VISIONARY LEADERSHIP FOR SECTOR GROWTH
Stakeholders in Nigeria’s real estate sector have called for transformational and visionary leadership to ensure the sustainability of achievements recorded in the industry.
They made the call in Lagos at the 2026 Heads of Practice Assembly organised by the Lagos State Branch of the Nigerian Institute of Estate Surveyors and Valuers.
The event, themed “Leadership in Real Estate: Navigating the 21st Century Challenges for Heads of Practice,” focused on the need for stronger leadership and succession planning within professional real estate practices.
Keynote speaker, Professor Biodun Adedipe, said firms should be structured to remain effective even after their founders leave, stressing the importance of clear vision, documented policies, defined processes, and effective systems.
He identified poor documentation as one of the reasons some organisations struggle to survive beyond their founders and urged firms to properly document their policies and procedures.
The Lagos State Branch Chairman of NIESV, Tosin Kadiri, said the real estate sector was facing economic volatility, regulatory changes, technological disruption, and changing client expectations.
He urged industry leaders to adopt more adaptive approaches while embracing technology, transparency, ethical standards, talent development, and succession planning.
Other speakers also highlighted the growing impact of artificial intelligence, climate change, and digital transformation on professional real estate practice.
The stakeholders stressed that firms must rethink traditional business models and develop organisations capable of remaining competitive and relevant in a rapidly changing industry.
