RASHFORD WANTS KEY ROLE BEFORE AGREEING TO BARCELONA MOVE

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is reportedly open to a move to Barcelona — but only if he’s guaranteed a central role in the squad.

According to Catalan outlet El Nacional, Rashford has made it clear that he won’t consider joining the Spanish giants unless he’s promised a significant place in Hansi Flick’s plans for next season. The England international is determined to stay in top form ahead of the 2026 World Cup and does not want to risk warming the bench.

At 27, Rashford is at a crucial stage of his career and is prioritising regular football. The report suggests he would even reject a move to the LaLiga champions if they can’t guarantee him consistent starts.

Barcelona’s interest in Rashford has grown after failing to land their primary target, Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao. However, the club is also eyeing Liverpool’s Luis Diaz as a preferred alternative. That pursuit won’t be straightforward either, as Bayern Munich are also keen on signing Diaz.

For now, Rashford’s future remains uncertain. If Barcelona can’t assure him a starring role, he may opt to stay at Old Trafford or explore other opportunities that promise the game time he needs to secure his place in England’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
