Grammy-winning rapper Lil Nas X has been arrested in Los Angeles after a bizarre early-morning street incident that ended with him being taken to the hospital.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), officers responded to calls around 5:30 a.m. on Ventura Boulevard about a man seen walking in the street wearing only underwear.

When officers arrived, they claimed the Old Town Road hitmaker—real name Montero Lamar Hill—allegedly charged at them, leading to his arrest on suspicion of battery.

A police spokesperson, Charles Miller, confirmed that the rapper was later hospitalised over concerns of a possible drug overdose.

Unverified video clips circulating online appeared to show Lil Nas X dancing in the street in just underwear and cowboy boots, shouting at passersby to “come to the party.”

The arrest comes just months before the 25-year-old is due to release his much-anticipated second studio album, Dreamboy. The Atlanta-born star had been teasing new music on Instagram in recent weeks.

Lil Nas X rose to global fame in 2019 with his record-breaking single Old Town Road, which spent 17 consecutive weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and won two Grammys. He has since become known for pushing boundaries with his bold artistry, often sparking debates—particularly with his provocative hit Montero (Call Me By Your Name).
