RAHEEM STERLING REJECTS BAYERN MUNICH MOVE TO STAY AT CHELSEA
Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling has rejected an opportunity to join Bayern Munich in the closing stages of the summer transfer window.
The 30-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Arsenal, has been out of favour under Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca and has been training away from the first team since the summer.
According to The Athletic, Bayern Munich made a late enquiry about Sterling while negotiating the loan signing of Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea. However, Sterling declined the move, citing reluctance to relocate his family to Germany or spend extended periods away from them.
The Bundesliga champions had hoped to reunite Sterling with their new manager Vincent Kompany, his former Manchester City teammate. Kompany and Sterling played together at the Etihad for four years, winning six major trophies, including the Premier League.
Despite being frozen out at Stamford Bridge, Sterling appears set to remain in London for now, prioritising family stability over a switch to the German giants.
