PSG OWNERS EXPAND EUROPEAN FOOTBALL PORTFOLIO WITH BELGIAN CLUB PURCHASE
QSI, the Qatari investment group that owns French champions Paris Saint-Germain, has completed the acquisition of Belgian club KAS Eupen. The deal adds another European club to the group’s growing football portfolio and represents its latest investment outside France.
Eupen confirmed the takeover in a statement, describing QSI as an established international investor in football with experience managing clubs and developing sporting projects. The Belgian side said the new ownership would provide additional resources as the club works on its sporting and organisational development.
The acquisition means QSI now has interests in football clubs in different European markets. Its best-known investment remains PSG, which it acquired in 2011 through Qatar Sports Investments. The group has since invested heavily in the French club, helping transform it into one of Europe's leading teams.
Eupen, based in Belgium's German-speaking region, has spent much of its recent history competing in the country's top divisions. The club has developed a reputation for giving opportunities to young players and has previously worked with international players and coaches from different football markets.
The takeover is expected to bring greater financial and sporting resources to Eupen as the club seeks to strengthen its position in Belgian football. QSI's growing involvement in clubs across different countries also reflects the increasing use of multi-club ownership structures in European football, where investors seek to develop links between teams through scouting, player development and sporting expertise.
