PROVE IT OR QUIT: AMAECHI’S WIFE FIRES BACK AT WIKE OVER N4BN NDDC CLAIM

Judith Amaechi, wife of former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, has strongly denied claims made by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, that she received N4 billion monthly from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) through her NGO, the Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI).

In a statement issued Tuesday by her media aide, Dr. Dike Bekwele, Mrs. Amaechi described Wike’s allegations—made during a recent Channels TV interview—as “wild, false, and unfounded.” She challenged Wike to produce and publish the forensic audit report of the NDDC where she or ESI was allegedly indicted.

“If such a report exists, let him present it. Otherwise, we demand that he fulfill his public pledge to resign as FCT Minister and tender an unreserved apology to the nation,” the statement read.

Wike had urged President Bola Tinubu to release the audit report and claimed he would resign if his allegations were proven false. In response, Mrs. Amaechi’s camp accused him of staging a media trial and spreading misinformation for political gain.

The statement emphasized that ESI, founded in 2011 and registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission, has legally partnered with the NDDC on youth and women empowerment programs. It stressed that the collaborations were transparent and mutually beneficial, and no wrongdoing was involved.

“There is no truth to the claim that Mrs. Amaechi or ESI received N4 billion monthly. The NDDC partnership was a legitimate, publicly documented initiative,” the statement said.

The Amaechi camp dismissed Wike’s remarks as “hysterical and baseless,” warning that his rhetoric could damage Nigeria’s global reputation and deter foreign investment.

“Mr. Wike’s lack of decorum and disregard for facts is unbecoming of a public official,” the statement concluded.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
