PROMOTE INTEGRITY, FIGHT CORRUPTION — EFCC CHARGES NYSC CORPS MEMBERS
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has called on members of the NYSC/EFCC Community Development Service (CDS) Group in Kwara State to take an active role in the fight against corruption in Nigeria.
This charge was delivered by Ayodele Babatunde, Head of the Public Affairs Department at the EFCC’s Ilorin Zonal Office, during a sensitization session with around 70 corps members held at the Conference Hall of the Kwara State Ministry of Environment in Ilorin.
Babatunde reiterated the commitment of EFCC Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, to involving Nigerian youth in the agency’s anti-corruption efforts. He described young people as the nation's driving force and essential partners in promoting accountability and transparency.
He emphasized the strategic role of NYSC members in fostering integrity in their primary places of assignment and across society.
“As young graduates and future leaders, you are uniquely positioned to spread the message of integrity and serve as ambassadors for the anti-corruption cause,” Babatunde stated. “The fight against corruption is a collective responsibility, not one that rests solely on the EFCC. The involvement of youth is especially crucial.”
Highlighting various forms of corruption—such as bribery, abuse of office, cybercrime, and embezzlement—he urged corps members to report any suspicious activity using official channels like the EFCC’s Eagle Eye App.
He also encouraged them to use their platforms to raise awareness about the dangers of corruption and the long-term benefits of a transparent society.
During the interactive session, corps members asked questions about how they could further contribute to the Commission’s anti-corruption initiatives. In response, Babatunde reaffirmed the EFCC’s commitment to supporting the NYSC/EFCC CDS Group through ongoing education, awareness campaigns, and community projects aimed at strengthening transparency and national development.
The event concluded with corps members pledging to uphold high ethical standards and serve as integrity ambassadors throughout their service year and beyond.
