Project LEAD will bring together 100 senior secondary school girls from 10 local government areas in Lagos State for its seventh annual International Day of the Girl Child Conference.

The conference, scheduled for October 10 at Eko Hotels & Suites, will focus on leadership, education, career choices and personal development.

Organisers said the programme is designed to help girls make informed decisions about their futures while developing confidence, leadership skills and a stronger understanding of their options.

The 2026 edition, themed “Her Choice, Her Future, Her Legacy,” will feature leadership training, mentorship sessions, career discussions, self-discovery activities and a student debate competition.

Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, is expected to deliver the keynote address, while the Special Adviser on Blue Economy and General Manager of the Lagos State Waterways Authority, Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, will serve as guest speaker.

Participants will also take part in discussions on decision-making and the pressures that can influence young people’s choices.

The organisers said the conference reflects Project LEAD’s focus on early intervention, arguing that leadership development should begin while girls are still in their formative years.

The programme will also include sessions exposing participants to different career paths and professional opportunities.
