Prince Harry Speaks Out After Being Cleared in Sentebale Charity Bullying Probe

Prince Harry has broken his silence after being officially cleared of bullying and misconduct allegations at Sentebale, the African charity he co-founded in 2006 with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho.

On August 5, the Charity Commission for England and Wales released its findings after investigating internal disputes at the organization. The report confirmed that there was no evidence of widespread bullying, harassment, misogyny, or misconduct involving Harry or the charity’s current chair, Dr. Sophie Chandauka.

A spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex responded with a strong statement, noting that it was “unsurprising” the Commission found no wrongdoing by Prince Harry.

“Despite all that, their report falls troublingly short in many regards, primarily the fact that the consequences of the current Chair’s actions will not be borne by her — but by the children who rely on Sentebale’s support,” the spokesperson said.

The Commission did, however, criticize both sides for allowing internal issues to become public, citing poor governance and failure to resolve disputes internally. They warned this could harm the reputation and public trust in charitable organizations.

In response, Sentebale acknowledged the Commission's findings, saying it welcomed the clarity provided. However, the charity emphasized that the Commission did not investigate individual bullying allegations, as that falls outside its role.

Meanwhile, tensions between the charity’s founders and its current leadership remain high. A source close to Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso said they are "devastated" over what they described as a "hostile takeover" by Dr. Chandauka. They believe there is no path back for them in the charity while she remains in charge.

“This was Prince Seeiso and Prince Harry’s life’s work,” the source told People Magazine. “They poured their hearts, time, and personal money into it for nearly two decades.”

Dr. Chandauka, in her own statement, defended her leadership and thanked the Commission for validating the governance concerns she raised earlier in 2025. She praised her team’s resilience and urged supporters to stand by Sentebale as it recovers and continues its mission.

Despite the controversy, the charity’s roots remain firmly grounded in its founding vision — to support vulnerable children and young people in Lesotho and Botswana, particularly those affected by poverty and HIV/AIDS.

The road ahead may be uncertain, but the legacy of Sentebale’s founders — and their late mothers, Princess Diana and Queen Mamohato — continues to inspire.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
