PRESIDENT BOLA TINUBU CONGRATULATES FRCN ON 75 YEARS, CALLS FOR CONTINUED SERVICE
President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) on its 75th anniversary, praising its pivotal role in national development and communication.
In a statement released Tuesday and signed by his Special Adviser on Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu extended greetings to the Minister, management, and staff of the Ministry of Information and National Orientation, as well as FRCN’s sister agencies.
Describing FRCN as “dynamic, vibrant, and central,” the President highlighted its status as Africa’s largest broadcast network, operating 47 FM stations and six zonal stations. He noted its contribution to “enhancing development communication between leaders, governments, and citizens for more than seven decades,” providing information, education, and entertainment across Nigeria.
Tinubu also acknowledged FRCN’s historical significance, emphasizing its role in documenting Nigeria’s journey from colonial to post-colonial times and maintaining archives useful to leaders, students, and scholars.
He commended the corporation for training and mentoring broadcasters, producers, and sound engineers, producing some of the continent’s finest media professionals. The President urged FRCN to continue its mission in line with its slogan: “Uplifting the People and Uniting the Nation.”
