PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU EXTENDS TENURES OF CONTROLLER-GENERAL OF CORRECTIONS AND COMPTROLLER-GENERAL OF IMMIGRATION
Commander-in-Chief approves service extension for key paramilitary chiefs to ensure administrative continuity and complete ongoing security sector reforms
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the tenure extension of the Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Haliru Nababa, and the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nanna Nandap.
The announcement was confirmed in an official statement issued by the Ministry of Interior, conveying the President's approval for both security chiefs to remain in office beyond their statutory retirement timelines.
According to the presidency, the tenure extensions are intended to allow the two heads of key paramilitary agencies to sustain ongoing structural reforms, enhance operational efficiency, and oversee the completion of critical security infrastructure projects across the country.
Under Nababa’s leadership at the Nigerian Correctional Service, the federal government has embarked on decongestion strategies, modern custodial facility construction, and enhanced inmate rehabilitation programs. Similarly, Nandap’s stewardship at the Nigeria Immigration Service has focused on border management automation, modernizing passport issuance systems, and implementing advanced border surveillance technologies.
The Ministry of Interior urged the administrative heads to justify the confidence reposed in them by President Tinubu by accelerating ongoing modernization programs, improving service delivery, and reinforcing security collaboration across Nigeria's land and maritime borders
