PREMIER LEAGUE: THREE MATCHES THAT COULD PRODUCE SURPRISE RESULTS
The English Premier League matchday 31 began on Friday night with Manchester United playing out a 2–2 draw against AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.
League leaders Arsenal F.C. and second-placed Manchester City F.C. will not feature in Premier League action this weekend as their fixtures have been postponed ahead of the EFL Cup Final.
Both sides are scheduled to face each other in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday at Wembley Stadium.
Despite the absence of two of the league’s top teams, several fixtures across the weekend could still produce surprise results.
Brighton vs Liverpool
Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. will host Liverpool F.C. on Saturday afternoon at the American Express Stadium.
Liverpool currently sit fifth on the Premier League table, while Brighton occupy 12th position. The Reds were held to a 1–1 draw by Tottenham Hotspur F.C. in their previous league outing, while Brighton secured a narrow 1–0 victory over Sunderland A.F.C..
Brighton will be hoping to capitalize on their home advantage and potentially cause an upset against Liverpool, who are managed by Arne Slot.
Everton vs Chelsea
Everton F.C. will host Chelsea F.C. on Saturday evening.
Both teams head into the clash following defeats in their previous league games. Everton were beaten by Arsenal, while Chelsea lost to Newcastle United F.C..
The Toffees currently occupy eighth place on the table, while Chelsea sit just above them in sixth position. Everton will aim to avoid another setback in front of their home fans and could pose a tough challenge for the Blues.
Aston Villa vs West Ham
On Sunday, Aston Villa F.C. will welcome West Ham United F.C. to Villa Park.
Villa, managed by Unai Emery, suffered defeat in their previous match against Manchester United. West Ham, meanwhile, played out a 1–1 draw with Manchester City in their last outing.
Aston Villa currently sit fourth in the standings, while West Ham are struggling in 18th place. Despite their position, the visitors will be hoping to build on their recent result and potentially pull off an upset against the hosts.
