POWER SECTOR REFORMS WILL ENSURE STABLE ELECTRICITY — NDPHC
The Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) has called on Nigerians to remain optimistic, assuring that ongoing reforms in the power sector will lead to a more reliable and sustainable electricity supply nationwide.
Jennifer Adighije, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NDPHC, made the remarks in her New Year message, emphasizing the need for unity and collective support for President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Adighije expressed confidence that, with continued commitment and collaboration, Nigerians would soon witness tangible improvements in electricity supply. She highlighted that efficient power generation is central to strengthening the nation’s electricity value chain.
She reiterated NDPHC’s commitment to its mandate, stressing that effective cooperation among government, private sector, host communities, and citizens is key to achieving lasting stability in the power sector.
“Collective resolve and collaboration across all stakeholders are essential to realising the vision of sustainable power for all. This New Year, I urge every Nigerian to remain hopeful and united. By supporting the President’s vision for a revitalised power sector, we are investing in our shared future. NDPHC is dedicated to efficient power generation, and together with the nation, we will make sustainable electricity a reality,” Adighije said.
Her message coincided with NDPHC’s 20th anniversary, an occasion that highlighted renewed efforts to position the company as a key driver of power generation and stability in Nigeria’s electricity sector.
At the anniversary celebration, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, praised recent reforms at NDPHC, saying they are restoring confidence in the power sector and offering renewed hope for industrial growth and socio-economic development.
“I am impressed by Engr. Jennifer Adighije’s achievements in the short time she has led NDPHC. It is especially encouraging to see a capable woman performing excellently in this role,” Ekpo said.
He stressed that reliable electricity is fundamental to Nigeria’s development, linking consistent power supply to industrialisation and improved living standards.
“Without power, industrialisation cannot thrive, and households remain unelectrified. Hearing about the improvements in the power sector gives me confidence that Nigeria is heading in the right direction,” he added.
Ekpo also commended NDPHC’s management team and acknowledged the strategic leadership of Vice President Kashim Shettima, who chairs the company’s board.
“I appreciate her and her team for their exceptional work. This commendation also extends to the Vice President for providing strong leadership at the board level,” he stated.
The remarks underscore growing expectations that reforms within NDPHC and the broader power sector will deliver a more dependable electricity supply, attract investor confidence, and support Nigeria’s industrial and economic growth.
