Residents of parts of the Federal Capital Territory and neighboring Nasarawa State were thrown into darkness following a sudden power outage that disrupted electricity supply across several communities.

The affected areas in Abuja and Nasarawa State reportedly experienced a widespread blackout after a fault was detected on parts of the transmission and distribution network supplying the region.

Electricity Distribution Company officials confirmed that technical teams have been deployed to identify and resolve the cause of the outage. They assured residents that restoration work is ongoing and power supply will be gradually restored once the fault is rectified.

The outage has impacted households, businesses, and essential services, with many residents expressing frustration over the disruption, especially in areas already affected by unstable electricity supply.

Authorities have urged residents to remain patient while engineers work to restore supply, adding that updates will be provided as progress is made on the repair efforts.

As investigations continue, the cause of the fault is yet to be fully determined, but officials say efforts are being made to prevent a recurrence and improve the reliability of the grid in the affected regions.
