PORTUGAL PLANS SPECIAL FAREWELL FOR RONALDO
The Portuguese Football Federation has announced plans to honour Cristiano Ronaldo with a special farewell following his retirement from international football.
In a tribute shared on Thursday, the federation thanked the forward for his contribution to the national team, telling him: “This will always be your home.”
Ronaldo, 41, leaves international football with a reported 146 goals in 234 appearances, ending a Portugal career that began in 2003.
His achievements include helping Portugal win their first European Championship in 2016 and captaining the team to UEFA Nations League titles in 2019 and 2025.
The planned farewell will give supporters an opportunity to celebrate his influence on Portuguese football and his record as the leading scorer in men’s international football.
Although his national-team career has ended, Ronaldo is expected to continue playing for Saudi club Al-Nassr.
He also remains in pursuit of 1,000 official career goals, with his tally standing at 985 according to the report.
The federation did not announce a date, venue or format for the farewell.
