PORTABLE SURVIVES CAR CRASH IN OGUN STATE WHILE PREPARING FOR BABY’S NAMING CEREMONY
Controversial Nigerian street-pop artiste, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has escaped a lone car accident in Ogun State, just as he was preparing for his newborn baby’s naming ceremony.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Thursday night when the singer’s vehicle reportedly suffered brake failure while he was driving.
In a video shared on his Instagram page, Portable narrated how he narrowly avoided a more tragic outcome by deliberately steering his car into a ditch to prevent colliding with another vehicle.
Speaking in Yoruba, the singer expressed gratitude for surviving the crash.
“My fans, join me to appreciate God. I was just driving out this evening when the accident happened. Nothing do me ooo, I came out unhurt. I suddenly realized that the car had failed brake. My people have arrived here. I thank God they are not here to carry my corpse,” he said.
He added that preparations for his son’s naming ceremony had already begun, including the purchase of two cows, while stressing how grateful he was that the accident did not occur on a busier road.
Portable noted that the situation could have been worse if a trailer had been passing at the time of the incident.
The singer, known for his dramatic lifestyle and viral moments, has recently been in the spotlight following the birth of his child with his wife, Bewaji. The newborn’s arrival coincided with his boxing bout with Carter Efe on Friday, May 1, 2026, further adding to the string of headline-making events around his personal life.
Despite the scare, Portable’s latest experience adds yet another chapter to his unpredictable public journey — one marked by controversy, celebration, and now, survival.
In moments like this, the noise fades. What remains is a reminder that life can shift in seconds — even for those who live loudly in the public eye.
