POLICE TO BEGIN ENFORCEMENT OF TINTED GLASS LAW OCTOBER 2, CLARIFIES NO COURT HALTED POLICY
The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed that it will begin enforcement of the Motor Vehicle Tinted Glass Law on Thursday, October 2, 2025.
Police spokesperson CSP Benjamin Hundeyin clarified a statement posted on his X handle, following claims that the enforcement was illegal due to an ongoing court case.
Over the weekend, some Nigerians argued that since the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) had challenged the legality of the tinted glass permit in court, police enforcement should be put on hold.
Hundeyin, however, stressed that no court had issued an order restraining the police from enforcing the law. “There is currently no court order suspending the Motor Vehicle Tinted Glass Law. Enforcement will therefore go on as scheduled,” he stated.
The enforcement exercise, which has been debated for years, requires vehicle owners with factory or aftermarket tinted glasses to obtain a valid permit from the Nigeria Police.
With the October 2 date approaching, motorists are advised to ensure compliance to avoid penalties.
