POLICE STEP UP SCHOOL SECURITY ACROSS ANAMBRA AS STUDENTS RETURN
The Anambra State Police Command has deployed additional officers to schools across the state as students and teachers return for the new academic session. The deployment is aimed at strengthening security around educational institutions and protecting students, teachers and other members of the school community as academic activities resume.
The command said the measure was part of efforts to prevent criminal activities around schools and ensure a peaceful learning environment. Police personnel have been assigned to strategic locations, with particular attention being paid to areas considered vulnerable to security threats.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Ikioye Orutugu, directed officers and commanders to maintain a strong presence around schools and other educational facilities. He also instructed personnel to work with school authorities, parents and other stakeholders to promptly identify and respond to security concerns that could affect students and staff.
The police further urged students, teachers and school managements to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements or activities to security agencies. The command said members of the public should provide useful information that could assist security personnel in preventing incidents before they occur.
The deployment comes as schools across Anambra commence another academic session, with the police assuring residents that security measures would be sustained throughout the term. The command also appealed to parents and guardians to cooperate with security personnel and ensure that children follow safety guidelines while travelling to and from school.
