POLICE STEP UP PATROLS AFTER HEALTH CENTRE ROBBERY IN ONDO
The Ondo State Police Command has intensified security operations following a robbery attack at a health centre in Oke Ijebu in Ondo State.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, the incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. on Saturday when three armed suspects invaded the facility after scaling the perimeter fence.
The attackers, reportedly armed with a pump-action rifle and cutlasses, robbed three staff members of personal belongings, including mobile phones and a POS terminal. They were said to have arrived in an unregistered black Toyota Venza, which was parked along the main road before the operation.
Police said the victims were taken towards the Olokuta axis along Ondo Road, where they were forced to remove their clothing and abandoned in the bush before being rescued by personnel of the Nigerian Correctional Service.
Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, visited the scene and ordered a comprehensive investigation. He also deployed tactical and surveillance teams to track down the perpetrators.
The command assured residents that patrols have been intensified and collaboration with other security agencies and local vigilante groups has been strengthened to prevent further attacks. Members of the public were urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security authorities.
