POLICE SEIZE 195 VEHICLES OVER NUMBER PLATE VIOLATIONS IN ENUGU
The Enugu State Police Command has impounded 195 vehicles for various number plate and traffic-related offences during a special operation across the state.
The exercise, aimed at enforcing compliance with vehicle registration and road safety regulations, resulted in the recovery of vehicles with fake, expired, or no number plates. Police authorities warned that such violations pose security risks and contribute to road accidents.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer stated that the operation would be sustained to ensure sanity on the roads. Owners of the seized vehicles are expected to pay stipulated fines and regularise their documents before retrieving them.
The move has been commended by road users who called for continued enforcement to improve traffic discipline and reduce criminal activities.
Similar operations are planned in other parts of the state to curb the proliferation of unregistered and improperly documented vehicles.
