The Zamfara State Police Command has rescued five travellers who were abducted by suspected bandits along a major road in the state.

According to police authorities, the victims were intercepted and taken away by armed criminals while travelling through a vulnerable route known for security challenges. Following the incident, security operatives launched a search-and-rescue operation to locate the victims and apprehend those responsible.

The police said the rescue was achieved through a coordinated effort involving intelligence gathering and tactical deployment of officers to the area. The victims were successfully freed and reunited with their families without any reported loss of life.

Authorities noted that the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping, banditry, and other criminal activities across Zamfara and neighbouring states.

The rescued travellers have since received medical attention and support following their ordeal. Meanwhile, security agencies continue to pursue the suspects involved in the abduction.

The Commissioner of Police commended the officers who participated in the operation and reassured residents of the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.

Residents have also been urged to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies, and report suspicious activities that could help prevent future attacks.
