The Sokoto State Police Command has successfully rescued a senior officer, SP Musa Amadu, who was abducted by suspected kidnappers in the state.

Amadu was declared missing on August 27, 2025, after his family reported that he neither returned home nor could be reached on his phone. The situation was later confirmed to be a case of kidnapping when his brother received a ransom demand call from the abductors the following day.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the Police Anti-Kidnapping Unit immediately launched an investigation, deploying technical intelligence to trace the officer’s location.

Amadu was eventually found around 5:40 p.m. on August 28 in an isolated area near the back gate of Usman Danfodio University, along Illela road. He was reportedly weak and disoriented at the time of rescue and was quickly taken to the hospital for treatment and observation.

Police confirmed that two suspects have been arrested in connection with the abduction.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, bandits have kidnapped Abdullahi Tambuwal, a youth leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State. He was abducted on August 27.

These incidents highlight the rising insecurity challenges in the state, even as security agencies intensify efforts to clamp down on criminal activities.
