POLICE REPORT FRESH NATIONWIDE GAINS IN FIGHT AGAINST CRIMINAL NETWORKS
The Nigeria Police Force has reported a series of operations across 11 states in which several suspects were arrested, kidnapped victims were rescued and firearms and other criminal exhibits were recovered. The coordinated operations formed part of ongoing efforts by the police to disrupt criminal networks, prevent attacks and improve security in communities facing threats from kidnappers, armed criminals and other violent groups.
The operations were carried out by police formations in different parts of the country following intelligence gathering and targeted investigations. Officers moved against suspected criminal hideouts and groups believed to be involved in kidnapping and other offences, leading to the arrest of several suspects. Some of the operations also resulted in the recovery of firearms and ammunition believed to have been in the possession of criminal elements.
The rescue of victims was another major outcome of the operations, with police teams successfully locating and freeing people who had allegedly been held captive by criminal groups. The rescued victims are expected to undergo necessary procedures while investigators work to obtain information that could assist in tracking other members of the networks responsible for their abduction.
The recovered weapons and other exhibits are also expected to support ongoing investigations into the activities of the arrested suspects. Police authorities will now screen those in custody and determine their individual roles in the alleged crimes, while efforts are expected to continue towards identifying other suspects who may be connected to the cases.
The latest operations reflect the police strategy of using intelligence-led approaches and coordinated action to tackle insecurity across the country. Authorities have continued to call for cooperation from residents, particularly by providing credible information that can help security personnel identify criminal activities before they escalate. The police said sustained operations would continue as part of efforts to protect lives and property across the affected states.
