POLICE RAID OSUN AMOTEKUN OFFICES, ARREST 25 PERSONNEL OVER AKINLALU KILLINGS
Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force Intelligence Response Team (IRT) on Wednesday raided the offices of the Osun Amotekun Corps in Ife Central Local Government Area and the Head Office Annexe in Osogbo, arresting several personnel linked to a recent violent incident.
Sources told DAILY POST that the operation was connected to the September 30, 2025, killing of seven persons in Akinlalu town, Ife North Local Government Area of Osun State.
An Amotekun insider, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the IRT team from Abuja arrested about 25 operatives during the coordinated raids.
“In Osogbo, they arrested 20 Amotekun personnel on duty, and in Ife Central, they picked up five,”
the source disclosed.
Meanwhile, the Osun State Police Command has confirmed that five suspects have already been arrested in connection with the Akinlalu killings.
A statement signed by Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Gotan, through Police Public Relations Officer DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, alleged that investigations identified the attackers as Amotekun members.
“Individuals have been mentioned to have masterminded the attack, and victims and witnesses said they can identify them if seen. Five suspects have been arrested, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend others,”
the statement read.
The command also revealed that Amotekun Commander, Isaac Omoyele, was invited for questioning but failed to honour the invitation.
According to police, Omoyele later claimed he was attacked by masked gunmen, a statement the police dismissed as “false and misleading.”
“Preliminary enquiry reveals it was a figment of his imagination aimed at concealing the truth and derailing justice for the victims,”
the statement added.
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has reportedly directed the IRT-FID to take over the investigation.
The police urged the public to disregard unverified reports and remain calm, assuring that security agencies are committed to ensuring peace and justice in Osun State.
