The Ekiti State Police Command has ordered an investigation into the death of a woman who was allegedly killed by her husband during a marital dispute in the state. The directive was issued by the Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo, following the reported incident and concerns surrounding the circumstances that led to the woman’s death.

The incident reportedly occurred during a disagreement between the couple, with the husband allegedly attacking his wife in the course of the dispute. The woman was said to have sustained serious injuries and later died from the injuries she suffered. The circumstances surrounding the incident are now being examined by the police as part of efforts to establish exactly what happened.

Following the report, the Commissioner of Police directed detectives to commence a thorough investigation into the matter. The police are expected to interview witnesses and other relevant persons while examining available evidence that could help investigators establish how the dispute escalated and what led to the woman’s death.

The case has again drawn attention to the dangers of domestic disputes and violence within relationships. While disagreements may occur between couples, security and social authorities have repeatedly warned against the use of violence during marital conflicts, stressing that disputes should be resolved through peaceful means rather than physical confrontation.

The police command said the investigation would be conducted to establish the facts surrounding the incident and determine whether anyone should face criminal charges. The suspect remains subject to the ongoing investigation, and the authorities are expected to take further action based on the outcome of the probe.
