POLICE LAUNCH INVESTIGATION AFTER THREE SIBLINGS DIE ON ONDO FARM
The Ondo State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the deaths of three siblings whose bodies were discovered on their father’s farm in Akure, leaving their family and residents of the Oke Ogba community in mourning. The victims were identified as 11-year-old twins, Joshua and Jacob Jonah, and their five-year-old sister, Blessing Jonah. Their bodies were reportedly found close to the bank of a small river on the farm around the Owena Army Barracks.
According to reports, the children had accompanied their father, Samuel Jonah, to the farm on Friday, September 4, 2026. The three siblings reportedly left the farm to return home while their father remained behind to continue working. Concern arose later when their father returned home and discovered that the children had not arrived, prompting the family and other residents to begin searching for them. Their search ended tragically on Saturday when the bodies of the three children were discovered on the farm.
The circumstances surrounding the deaths remain unclear, with authorities yet to establish what happened to the children before they were found. The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the incident and said the command had opened an investigation. The police said detectives were working to document the available facts and determine the events that led to the deaths of the siblings.
The discovery has caused significant grief within the Oke Ogba community, where sympathisers have reportedly gathered to console the bereaved family. The loss of three children from the same family, including the young twins and their five-year-old sister, has heightened concerns as residents await answers from the ongoing investigation. Authorities have not publicly confirmed whether the deaths were accidental or resulted from any criminal act.
The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, CP Felix Ohagwu, has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy. The command said its detectives would continue examining the available evidence and circumstances surrounding the discovery of the bodies. As the investigation continues, the police are expected to provide further information once the facts surrounding the deaths of Joshua, Jacob and Blessing are established.
