POLICE INVESTIGATE DEATH OF 51-YEAR-OLD TEACHER IN MOVING TRICYCLE
A 51-year-old woman, Mrs. Emmanuel Love Onuora, was confirmed dead after reportedly passing away while traveling in a commercial tricycle in Aba, Abia State.
The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, gained attention after her photo surfaced on Facebook. Several users identified her as “Aunty Love,” a well-known teacher at a school in the city.
Abia State Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, confirmed the incident on Thursday.
According to the police, Mrs. Onuora boarded a tricycle driven by one Mr. Okechukwu Sunday, an Anambra State native residing in Aba, for a routine trip along Aba Road.
During the ride, another passenger flagged down the tricycle to join. Shortly after, both the driver and the new passenger noticed that Mrs. Onuora had become unresponsive.
“The tricycle rider reported the situation to the Area Commander in Aba,” said Chinaka. “Officers were dispatched to the location, and the woman was taken to St. Francis Hospital, where she was declared dead.”
Her body has since been deposited in the mortuary, and police say investigations are ongoing.
“The scene was visited, and inquiries are still in progress,” the spokesperson added.
A similar incident occurred recently in Lagos, where a woman died inside a moving tricycle along the Isheri-Igando Road. The rider only realized something was wrong when she failed to respond upon reaching her destination, later discovering she had passed away.
