POLICE DEMOTE TWO OFFICERS OVER POS EXTORTION IN DELTA
The Delta State Police Command has demoted two officers for their involvement in extortion using Point of Sale (PoS) machines in the state.
The officers were found guilty of harassing citizens and demanding illegal fees through PoS transactions. The command described the action as part of its zero-tolerance policy on corruption and misconduct within the force.
A police spokesperson stated that the demotion serves as a deterrent to other officers and reaffirms the commitment to professionalism and integrity. The affected officers have been reassigned to non-sensitive duties.
The development has been welcomed by residents who have complained about police harassment and extortion in recent times.
The Delta State Police Command has urged the public to report any similar incidents promptly for necessary action.
