The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed coordinated attacks on two communities in Patigi Local Government Area of the state.

The incidents occurred on Tuesday, when armed bandits raided Motokun and Agboro communities, leaving behind casualties and widespread panic.

In a statement issued on Wednesday in Ilorin, police spokesperson SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi disclosed that:

“At Motokun, preliminary findings indicate that six persons were abducted, while six residents sustained gunshot injuries. Sadly, one female victim later died at the hospital, while the others are currently receiving medical attention.”

The attackers then advanced to Agboro, where they targeted a private company. In the course of the assault, one police officer was killed in active service, and properties within the facility were vandalized.

The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, has since deployed tactical teams in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to restore order and rescue the abducted victims.

Ejire-Adeyemi added that patrols and surveillance had been intensified in the area:

“Residents are assured of the command’s unwavering commitment to their safety.”

The police also commiserated with affected families and urged the public to remain calm, vigilant, and to promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
