POLICE COMMISSION SECURITY OUTPOST AT NORTH-EASTERN UNIVERSITY, GOMBE
In a bid to enhance safety within academic environments and surrounding communities, the Gombe State Police Command has inaugurated a new Police Outpost at North-Eastern University, Gombe.
The commissioning, which took place on Tuesday at the university campus, was led by the Commissioner of Police for Gombe State, CP Bello Yahaya.
While addressing attendees, CP Yahaya emphasized that the new outpost symbolizes the police's dedication to proactive security measures and fostering cooperation with educational institutions.
“This facility goes beyond establishing presence — it’s about building trust, offering protection, and ensuring rapid response to incidents in and around the university,” Yahaya remarked. “We urge students and staff to work closely with our officers. Security is a collective effort — report any suspicious activity or threats; we are here to protect you.”
He also mentioned that the outpost would serve not only the university but also neighboring communities, expanding its reach and impact.
Appreciating the gesture, the Vice-Chancellor of North-Eastern University praised the initiative as a timely and commendable effort.
“This partnership is a model of how law enforcement and academic institutions can work together effectively. We are fully committed to supporting the success of this outpost,” he stated.
The event was attended by student union leaders, university officials, and senior police officers from the Gombe State Command.
