POLICE BUST KIDNAPPERS IN DELTA, RESCUE VICTIMS
Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have raided a kidnappers’ hideout and rescued multiple victims, including a 27-year-old woman, in the forests along the Ibusa / Ogwashi-Uku axis of Delta State.
The operation was carried out by the command’s Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber-Crime Squad following intelligence on the abduction of the woman from Ibusa community in Oshimili North Local Government Area.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, the victim had been taken to a hideout near the Obosi River along the Ibusa/Ogwashi-Uku Road.
The Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, upon receiving the report, directed the squad to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and arrest of the suspects.
Edafe said that when operatives approached the kidnappers’ hideout on March 19, the criminals opened fire, but the police responded with superior firepower, forcing them to flee and abandon their captives.
The victims were successfully rescued and taken to a hospital for treatment, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
In a separate incident, police in Owa-Oyibu arrested a robbery suspect, Sunday Blessing, following a distress call reporting a robbery attack on a POS operator.
The suspect and two accomplices allegedly robbed the victim of ₦600,000 at gunpoint near Ebu Owa Market.
Police recovered a locally made Beretta pistol from the suspect, who remains in custody as investigations continue.
