POLICE BUST GUNRUNNING OPERATION IN KADUNA, RECOVER WEAPONS AND MOTORCYCLES
Kaduna State Police Command has successfully arrested two suspected gun dealers and recovered a cache of locally made weapons and motorcycles in a major security operation.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, the breakthrough came after police received credible intelligence about illegal arms sales in the area.
On August 5, 2025, around 2:00 pm, operatives from the Ikara Division stormed Kurmin-Kogi village in Soba Local Government Area. There, they apprehended two suspects, Isah Bello and Sa’idu Haruna, both residents of Damdami village.
The suspects later led officers to a hideout in a nearby bush, where police discovered four locally made rifles, four locally made pistols, and four motorcycles believed to be linked to their criminal activities.
During the arrest, one of the suspects allegedly tried to escape and even assaulted a police inspector, causing facial injuries. The injured officer is currently receiving medical care.
In a separate operation on August 7, detectives from the Dan Magaji Division arrested Shamsudeen Haruna, 36, in Giwa LGA, for allegedly being part of a motorcycle-snatching syndicate.
DSP Hassan praised the swift action of the officers and urged residents to continue sharing useful information with the police to help curb crime across the state.
