POLICE BEGIN ENFORCEMENT AGAINST TINTED VEHICLES, COVERED NUMBER PLATES
The Nigeria Police Force has commenced enforcement operations against motorists using unauthorized tinted vehicles and covered number plates, as part of efforts to strengthen security and improve law enforcement across Nigeria.
Police authorities said the exercise is aimed at curbing criminal activities often associated with vehicles that conceal occupants' identities or obstruct proper vehicle identification.
According to the force, motorists found using illegally tinted windows, obscured registration plates, or other modifications that violate traffic and security regulations will face sanctions in line with existing laws.
The police noted that while permits may be issued for certain categories of tinted vehicles, owners must ensure they comply with all regulatory requirements.
Security officials argued that clear vehicle identification is critical to crime prevention, investigations, and the tracking of suspects involved in kidnappings, robberies, and other offences.
Residents have been advised to regularise vehicle documentation and remove any coverings that obstruct number plate visibility to avoid penalties.
The enforcement campaign is expected to continue nationwide as part of broader efforts to enhance public safety and security.
