Law enforcement leadership pledges robust protection framework, multi-agency collaboration, and heightened operational readiness to safeguard the integrity of upcoming polls

The Nigeria Police Force has assured the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of adequate security coverage for its officials, state offices, and sensitive voting materials in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections.

The commitment was reaffirmed during official security consultations between command leadership and electoral stakeholders aimed at establishing early operational strategies to counter potential threats to the democratic process.

Police authorities emphasized that state commands across the nation are implementing proactive intelligence gathering, threat mapping, and inter-agency coordination to protect critical electoral assets and maintain public order before, during, and after polling activities.

The leadership of the force pledged that security personnel deployed for election duty will adhere strictly to professional codes of conduct, maintaining political neutrality while ensuring an enabling environment for eligible citizens to exercise their franchise safely.

In addition to physical security deployments, law enforcement agencies called on political parties and community leaders to discourage political violence and cooperate with legal frameworks to preserve institutional stability throughout the electoral cycle.
