POLICE ARREST TWO AS CANADIAN LOUD IS FOUND CONCEALED INSIDE CAR TYRE IN OYO

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two suspected drug dealers after operatives recovered eight parcels of weeds suspected to be Canadian Loud concealed inside a car tyre. The suspects were apprehended following intelligence received by the command on September 2, 2026, concerning the activities of an alleged drug dealer operating from a vulcanising workshop in the state.

The command's spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, said the information prompted the Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, to direct officers attached to the Anti-Narcotics Section to move to the location. Upon arriving at the workshop, the operatives reportedly worked with the vulcaniser and discovered the suspected illicit substance hidden inside one of the vehicle tyres.

A vulcanising machine allegedly used in the process of concealing the drugs was also recovered by the police and taken as an exhibit. The discovery highlights the methods allegedly being employed by suspected drug traffickers to hide controlled substances and move them without attracting the attention of law enforcement officers.

According to the police, preliminary investigations have shown that the two suspects allegedly confessed to their involvement in the drug-related activities. They are currently assisting detectives with the ongoing investigation, while the command continues efforts to identify and apprehend other individuals believed to be connected to the suspected drug trafficking network.

The Oyo State Police Command said the suspects would be prosecuted after the completion of investigations. The command also urged members of the public to continue providing credible and timely information that could assist security agencies in tackling drug trafficking and other criminal activities. Police authorities warned that the spread of illicit drugs could contribute to crimes such as cultism, robbery, kidnapping and other forms of organised criminality.
