Law enforcement apprehend suspects linked to tragic robbery and murder in Ibadan

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the robbery and brutal killing of a 44-year-old woman.

The suspects were identified by police authorities as Akinrinola Oluwatobi (28), Okunola Mathew (24), and Ibrahim Rabiu (23).

According to police reports, the suspects were nabbed following intense investigations into a violent house robbery that occurred on August 4, 2026, where the victim, Rukayat, was murdered.

Investigators revealed that surviving victims successfully identified the culprits during a formal identification parade organized by the command.

During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to their active involvement in the deadly operation, detailing their respective roles in the robbery, the carting away of valuables including millions of naira in cash, and the killing of the deceased.

Police findings further indicated that the syndicate has been linked to a string of other armed robbery operations spanning the Wofun, Olodo, and Akobo areas of Ibadan.

The State Commissioner of Police has directed specialized tactical units to scale up efforts to track down remaining members of the criminal gang, as well as receivers of stolen items linked to the network.

The breakthrough has brought a sense of closure to the bereaved family, even as authorities reassure residents of sustained crackdowns on violent crime syndicates across the state.
