Operatives of the Commissioner of Police Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) have arrested three suspects in connection with an alleged illegal arms transaction in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

The suspects—Areuro Oke (38), Onos Echabor (47), and Akpofure Emmanuel (45)—were apprehended during a sting operation carried out at about 7:15 p.m. on January 3, 2026, along Ovieta Street in Ughelli town.

The Delta State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Aina Adesola, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe.

According to the statement, CP-SAT operatives acted on credible intelligence that led to the successful operation and the arrest of the three suspects allegedly involved in the illegal arms deal.

SP Edafe disclosed that Areuro Oke was identified as the intended buyer of the pump-action gun, while Onos Echabor acted as the middleman in the transaction. Akpofure Emmanuel was also implicated in the deal.

He added that all the suspects are residents of Ughelli North and Ughelli South Local Government Areas of the state.

Items recovered during the operation include one pump-action gun and the sum of ₦280,000, which police said was part payment for the illegal arms transaction. Investigation into the matter is ongoing.
