POLICE ARREST SYNDICATE ISSUING FAKE STATE REVENUE TICKETS IN IMO
The Imo State Government has dismantled a criminal network involved in the sale and distribution of unauthorized revenue tickets from multiple states at the state’s border points.
The operation was executed through the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Monitoring and Compliance, following a coordinated effort to track and eliminate illegal revenue collection rings operating within and around Imo borders.
According to the Special Adviser, Nze Chinasa Nwaneri, the suspects were found with several forged documents, including permits and certificates allegedly issued by different state governments and agencies.
Recovered items included vehicle and trade permits, haulage clearance papers, and membership certificates bearing the logos and insignias of various states.
The suspects have been handed over to the Imo State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution.
In response to the arrests, Nze Nwaneri reaffirmed the government’s determination to eradicate illegal ticketing and revenue diversion schemes by groups exploiting transporters, traders, and motorists under false pretenses.
He warned individuals or organizations involved in such unlawful practices to desist immediately, stressing that the state government would continue to uncover and dismantle such criminal operations.
Nwaneri emphasized that Governor Hope Uzodinma’s administration remains committed to maintaining a transparent and accountable revenue system. He also urged residents to report any suspicious ticketing or extortion activities to the relevant authorities.
“No individual or group is permitted to exploit government institutions for personal benefit,” he stated. “Anyone found undermining the system will face the full weight of the law.”
