The Yobe State Police Command has rescued a 2-year-old boy and arrested a 24-year-old suspected kidnapper following a swift operation that stretched from Yobe to Kaduna State.
Police spokesperson SP Dungus Abdulkarim said the incident happened on July 31, 2025, when little Abdulkareem Mohd was abducted in Potiskum town. The boy’s father, Mohammed Ishayaku, later received a ₦2 million ransom demand from the kidnappers.
Following an intensive investigation, operatives tracked the suspect, identified as Abdullahi Aliyu from Kakuri, Kaduna State, and apprehended him. The toddler was safely rescued without harm.
Police say Aliyu has been linked to similar kidnapping cases in other states, and further investigations are ongoing.
Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, praised the officers involved and assured residents of the command’s unwavering commitment to fighting crime. He also urged parents to remain vigilant and to report suspicious activities immediately.
“The safety and security of citizens remain our top priority,” the CP said.
