The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old woman, Azeez Khadijat, and recovered a suspected stolen Suzuki mini bus that was being repainted in a bush in Omu-Ijebu.

The arrest followed intelligence reports that three men and a woman were illegally repainting a commercial bus, popularly known as “Korope,” along Ikhasi Road, Kajola via Omu, without a registration number.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said detectives from the Omu-Ijebu Division swiftly mobilised to the scene.

He explained that upon sighting the operatives, the suspects fled in different directions, while Khadijat was apprehended inside the abandoned vehicle.

According to the police, the minibus, originally suspected to be yellow, was being repainted white and blue to conceal its identity and avoid detection. The vehicle, which carried a Lagos State registration plate, has since been recovered and secured.

Items recovered at the scene include mobile phones, a power bank, a paint can, sandpaper, and a Type-C charging cord, all believed to belong to the fleeing suspects.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the vehicle may have been used for criminal activities in Lagos State before efforts were made to alter its appearance.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the officers for their prompt action and assured that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
