Law enforcement apprehend suspect following outcry over child abuse and exploitation

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a middle-aged man in connection with the alleged rape and subsequent pregnancy of a 12-year-old minor in Abuja.

According to police reports, the suspect was apprehended following an official complaint lodged by child rights advocates and local community members who discovered the harrowing ordeal.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the young victim was repeatedly assaulted over a period of time before the abuse came to light when physical signs of pregnancy became noticeable.

The case has sparked outrage among human rights organizations, civil society groups, and residents, who are demanding speedy justice and severe legal consequences for the perpetrator.

Child protection agencies have stepped in to provide psychological support, medical evaluation, and temporary shelter for the traumatized minor.

The FCT Police Public Relations Officer confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect is currently undergoing interrogation and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of preliminary investigations.

Authorities have reiterated their zero-tolerance stance against gender-based violence, child abuse, and defilement, urging parents and guardians to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly.
