The Gombe State Police Command has arrested a man accused of attempting to murder his girlfriend in a violent domestic incident.

According to police sources, the suspect was apprehended shortly after the alleged attack following a distress call and swift response from operatives in the area.

Preliminary investigations suggest that a disagreement between the couple escalated into violence, leading to the attempted killing. The victim was reportedly rescued and taken to a medical facility for treatment.

The police confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody and assisting investigators as efforts continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

Authorities say the case is being treated as a serious criminal matter, and the suspect will be charged to court upon completion of investigations.

The Gombe State Police Command reiterated its commitment to tackling all forms of violent crime, including domestic abuse, and urged residents to seek peaceful means of resolving disputes.

Residents have also been encouraged to report cases of domestic violence early to prevent escalation and ensure timely intervention by security agencies.

Further updates are expected as investigations progress.
