POLICE ARREST FIVE SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS IN EDO, RESCUE VICTIM

Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested five suspected kidnappers and rescued a victim, identified as Jemila Ibrahim, unharmed.

 

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the command’s spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem.

 

According to the statement, the victim was rescued on May 13 during a bush combing operation carried out around Okpege River Road in Iyuku Community, Jattu, Edo North.

 

The police said the victim had earlier been kidnapped on May 10, 2026.

 

“On 13th May, 2026, at about 19.30hrs, security operatives engaged in sustained bush combing operations around Okpege River Road, Iyuku Community in Jattu and successfully rescued one Jemila Ibrahim, who was kidnapped on 10th May, 2026,” the statement read.

 

The command confirmed that the victim was rescued safely and taken to a hospital for medical attention.

 

“The victim was rescued unhurt and taken to the hospital for medical attention,” the statement added.

 

The police also announced the arrest of five suspects allegedly linked to the abduction.

 

The suspects were identified as Nura Saminu, 24; Shaibu Isah, 23; Suraj Sabitu, 23; Yajubu Sagiru, 23; and Oseni Abdullahi, 26.

 

According to the police, the suspects are currently in custody and will be charged in court after investigations are concluded.

 

“The suspects are currently in custody and will be arraigned before the court upon conclusion of the investigation,” the command stated.

 

The Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Monday Agbonika, commended the operatives involved in the rescue operation and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.
