The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old suspect in connection with the killing of a young man and the theft of his motorcycle in Ngaski Local Government Area of the state.

The victim, identified as 25-year-old Ibrahim Yahaya, was found dead on the morning of December 16, 2025, in Bakin Dutsi Forest, a secluded area frequently used by farmers and commuters. The discovery of his body triggered fear among residents and renewed concerns about security along forest routes in the area.

Police operatives, acting on what authorities described as credible intelligence, moved swiftly after the incident. By about 2:20 p.m. the same day, officers tracked down and arrested the suspect, Aminu Adamu, in Yauri Local Government Area. He was allegedly found in possession of a Haojue motorcycle believed to have been stolen from the deceased.

Confirming the arrest on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, said the suspect was apprehended following intensive investigations launched immediately after the body was discovered.

According to him, the Commissioner of Police ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department to allow for a thorough and detailed investigation.

The police assured residents that efforts were ongoing to ensure justice is served and to prevent similar crimes, particularly in forested and hard-to-reach areas often targeted by criminals.

Usman urged members of the public to remain calm and continue with their lawful activities, while encouraging them to support security agencies by providing timely and useful information.

The arrest comes amid sustained security operations by the Kebbi State Police Command aimed at curbing violent crimes and dismantling criminal networks operating within forest corridors and border communities.
