POCO LEE SET TO FACE UK COURT OVER ALLEGED ASSAULT

Popular Nigerian dancer and hypeman Iweh Odinaka, widely known as Poco Lee, is expected to appear before a London court on September 15, 2026, in connection with an alleged assault offence. The development was confirmed by Benjamin Kuti, popularly known as the Oluomo of Derby, who is involved in supporting Nigerians facing legal issues in the United Kingdom.

Kuti said Poco Lee is currently being held on remand in a UK prison and is scheduled to appear before the Snaresbrook Crown Court at 10am on the stated date. He explained that the hearing is expected to be a plea hearing, during which the accused would ordinarily indicate whether he is pleading guilty or not guilty to the allegation.

According to Kuti, he became aware of the case through his regular attendance at court proceedings and his involvement in assisting members of the Nigerian community in the UK. He added that he intends to attend Poco Lee’s court appearance to offer support while the legal process continues.

The development comes days after reports of Poco Lee’s alleged detention in Britain began circulating online. However, the initial reports did not reveal the identity of the alleged complainant or provide detailed circumstances surrounding the alleged offence. There was also no immediate independent confirmation from UK police or the court when the reports first emerged.

Kuti urged the public to allow the judicial process to take its course, stressing that Poco Lee remains entitled to the presumption of innocence until proven guilty. He said the Nigerian community in the UK would continue to monitor the proceedings and provide appropriate support.

Meanwhile, friends and associates of the dancer have rallied around him following news of his detention. Several of them have appealed to members of the public to avoid spreading unverified claims or reaching conclusions before the court determines the matter.

The September 15 hearing is expected to provide further clarity on the allegations against the entertainer as the case progresses through the UK legal system.
