PLATEAU YOUTHS TO SECURITY AGENCIES: CHASE OUT TERRORISTS OR WE’LL DEFEND OURSELVES

Tension is rising in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State as youths have issued a strong warning to security agencies, demanding urgent action against terrorists wreaking havoc in their communities.

The call came from the Bokkos Concerned Youth (BCY) during a press conference in Jos on Thursday. The group expressed frustration over the continued killings, displacement, and annexation of villages by armed Fulani militias.

According to BCY President, Dapet Chris Ortega, more than 60 villages have suffered violent attacks, with over 10 completely taken over by bandits. He lamented that despite the community’s decision to refrain from retaliatory violence, their patience is being stretched thin as the killings and invasions persist.

“Innocent families, including women and children, have been completely wiped away, leaving thousands of lives lost and properties worth billions destroyed,” Ortega said.

The group listed several villages now under bandit occupation, including Hokk, Nawula, Pangkap, Luwapan, Fokoldep, Dangru, Bodel, Duun, and Dulu. Ortega added that residents live in constant fear and uncertainty as attacks have continued unabated for more than a decade.

He warned that if the military and police fail to take decisive action to reclaim their lands and protect the people, the youths will have no choice but to take the law into their own hands.

The statement underscores the growing anger and desperation among locals who feel abandoned by those charged with their safety.
