PLATEAU LEADER CRIES OUT: SOLDIERS ARE AIDING FULANI MILITIAS ATTACKING OUR PEOPLE

A prominent community leader in Jebbu Binde village, Plateau State, has made serious allegations against soldiers stationed near his community, accusing them of supporting Fulani militias who attacked and killed over 30 people on Monday.

Reverend Davou Musa, Chairman of the Regional Church Council (RCC) of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), made the claims while addressing Governor Caleb Mutfwang, who visited the community to console residents and assess the damage.

Rev Musa questioned how the attackers could storm the community in large numbers and operate for several hours while military operatives were positioned just 200 meters away.

“Despite repeated calls for help, the soldiers refused to intervene,” Musa said. “It’s hard not to believe they were backing the attackers.”

He also accused the military of turning a blind eye to the massacre, adding that no arrests were made even after the attack, and villagers' homes, a church, and food stores were looted.

Rev Musa didn't hold back as he described a pattern of biased responses by the military. He claimed that whenever Fulani herders report cattle rustling, the military acts swiftly, deploying heavily armed personnel. But when communities are attacked and lives are lost, the response is slow or absent.

“The soldiers seem more concerned with protecting cows than human beings,” he alleged.

Calling for the removal of the military task force in the area, Rev Musa insisted that their continued presence is doing more harm than good.

The comments have added fuel to growing concerns about the role of security forces in Nigeria’s central states, where ethnic and communal violence has persisted for years. Many citizens are now demanding transparency, accountability, and urgent action from the federal government to protect lives.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
