PLATEAU LAUNCHES FOOD SECURITY PLAN TO BOOST AGRICULTURAL OUTPUT
The Plateau State Government has unveiled a food security plan aimed at increasing agricultural production, improving food supply, and strengthening the state’s contribution to Nigeria’s food system.
The initiative is designed to support farmers through improved access to inputs, modern farming techniques, extension services, and other measures that can enhance productivity across key agricultural value chains.
Government officials said the plan would focus on increasing crop yields, supporting smallholder farmers, and creating a more sustainable agricultural environment for food production.
Agriculture stakeholders welcomed the move, noting that investments in farming infrastructure, storage facilities, irrigation, and market access are essential to reducing food shortages and improving farmers’ incomes.
Experts said Plateau’s agricultural potential could play a significant role in addressing food security challenges if supported with effective policies, financing, and technology.
The state government reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the agricultural sector, creating jobs, and building a resilient food production system that benefits farmers and consumers.
