PETER OBI’S PLANNED ADC EXIT COULD RUIN HIS POLITICAL FUTURE — PARTY YOUTHS WARN

A youth group within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has raised serious concerns over reports that former presidential candidate Peter Obi might leave the ADC coalition if he fails to secure the party’s ticket for the 2027 elections.

In a statement released on Tuesday, signed by Comrade Abayomi Bello of the ADC Youth Vanguard, the group described Obi’s possible exit as a move that could damage his hard-earned political reputation.

“We doubt that Mr. Tanko actually has Peter Obi’s mandate to say what he said,” the statement read, referencing recent comments by one of Obi’s allies. “We believe Mr. Obi has built a strong image as a leader who stands for principle, youth empowerment, and putting the country first.”

The group stressed that walking away from the coalition merely for personal ambition would contradict everything Obi has stood for. They also reminded Nigerians that Obi has switched parties multiple times — from APGA to PDP, then to Labour Party, and now engaging with the ADC. Another jump could make him appear like just another typical politician chasing personal interests.

“Coalitions require patience, teamwork, and sacrifice,” the statement noted. “If Mr. Obi leaves the ADC coalition too soon, he risks losing the trust of his supporters, weakening important alliances, and disappointing many young Nigerians already frustrated by a divided opposition.”

Instead of quitting, the ADC youths urged Obi to remain within the coalition, mentor emerging leaders, and help shape the party’s long-term vision. According to them, that’s the only way to build a lasting political legacy.

“Anything else could lead to political isolation,” they warned.

As 2027 draws closer, all eyes will be on Peter Obi to see whether he chooses to stay and strengthen the coalition or risks it all by walking away.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
